Medicare Coverage

Navigate Medicare with Confidence — Avoid Costly Penalties and Find the Right Plan

What Is Medicare Coverage?

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities. Navigating Medicare can be overwhelming — there are multiple parts (A, B, C, D), enrollment windows, and the risk of costly late-enrollment penalties if you miss your deadlines. Mechelle Fitzpatrick specializes in helping clients understand all of their Medicare options, choose the right plan for their health needs and budget, and avoid the financial penalties that come from enrolling late. As an independent broker, she compares plans across multiple carriers at no cost to you.

Coverage Options We Offer

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare offered by private insurers. Often includes prescription drug coverage, dental, vision, and hearing benefits — and may include low or $0 premium options depending on your location and plan.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Covers the gaps in Original Medicare — including copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. Provides predictable out-of-pocket costs and freedom to see any Medicare-accepting provider nationwide.

Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug)

Standalone prescription drug coverage that works alongside Original Medicare and Medigap plans. Mechelle compares formularies and costs across carriers to find your best fit.

Annual Plan Reviews

Medicare plans change every year. Mechelle reviews your coverage each fall during Open Enrollment (Oct 15 – Dec 7) to ensure you still have the best plan for your needs and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I enroll in Medicare?

Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a 7-month window that begins 3 months before the month you turn 65. Enrolling during this window avoids late-enrollment penalties. If you have employer coverage, different rules may apply — contact Mechelle to discuss your specific situation.

What is the Medicare Part B late-enrollment penalty?

If you do not sign up for Part B when first eligible and do not have qualifying employer coverage, you may pay a 10% penalty on your Part B premium for each 12-month period you were eligible but did not enroll. In 2026, the standard Part B premium is $202.90/month — that penalty adds up quickly.

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medigap?

Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a private plan that often includes extra benefits. Medigap supplements Original Medicare by covering cost-sharing gaps. The right choice depends on your health needs, preferred doctors, and budget. Mechelle will walk you through both options.

Can I change my Medicare plan after I enroll?

Yes. The Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 – Dec 7) allows you to switch Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. Medigap plan changes may require medical underwriting outside of guaranteed issue periods. Mechelle reviews your options every year.
